Environmental buildings

New requirements
In 2027, waste and packaging must be collected close to the property to make it easier to recycle more waste and reduce environmental impact. Today, environmental buildings are often constructed in steel and aluminum, which are difficult to modify over time and have a high climate impact. Woodbe offers a flexible solution in wood that is ready for the changing needs of the future!

Possibilities with solid wood
With BiteLock, we can build eight sustainable environmental buildings with the same climate footprint as one made of steel and aluminum. This means we can build greener and smarter without it costing more.

Appearance
The façade is made of cross-laminated timber and can be treated with a transparent coating that protects against rain and dirt. Since it is wood, it is also possible to use traditional façade paint – for example, to match a nearby building.

New possibilities
With BiteLock, new opportunities open up for smart and flexible constructions that are easy to assemble and adapt to different needs. The structure is delivered as flat packages and assembled entirely without screws thanks to the smart BiteLock system. It is simply as easy as stacking building blocks! The building can be dismantled, moved, and expanded as needed. BiteLock is suitable for many different purposes, such as:

  • Environmental buildings
  • Bicycle storage
  • Accessory buildings

Smart design
BiteLock is a modern timber construction designed to create a bright and pleasant space with plenty of natural light that contributes to a sense of safety. The solid timber frame feels secure and robust, while also conveying warmth and life. The building is self-ventilating, and the design of the openings can be adapted to different expressions and layouts based on your preferences to achieve a unique design. The solid timber frame also makes it easy to mount whatever you need on the walls or ceiling.

Complete solution
We offer a complete solution that is ready to be assembled on-site. With a standardized process, we ensure high quality. If you also want assistance with assembly, we can of course help with that as well. Whatever you need, we will be there throughout the entire process.

Concept House

At Woodbe, we want to make it easier to choose wood for construction and contribute with smarter solutions. By utilizing industrial construction to a greater extent, we can simplify assembly and make building more sustainable. We see an opportunity to advance the construction industry with innovative thinking and a willingness to try new methods to showcase what is possible.

The BiteLock system can be used in a variety of applications, suitable for both larger and smaller buildings. We have now launched a new concept a small house to offer to the market.

Small house

In collaboration with Mondo Architects, we have developed a small house entirely in cross-laminated timber (CLT). This project is based on an exchange of knowledge and ideas, with a focus on innovation and timber construction. The development process began with a workshop at Mondo’s office in Karlstad, where the goal was to design a small house optimized for our BiteLock system. Woodbe started the workshop by presenting BiteLock and CLT.

After the presentation, the creative work began, where architects and
engineers from Mondo quickly sketched different proposals for small houses in CLT. The result was a combination of two ideas, where the house structure is based on two offset volumes, joined with repeatable building elements. These proposals were then further developed with details, floor plans, finishes, and material selections.

Building area: 30m²

Ridge height: 4m²

Roof and beam elements CLT: 80 mm and 60 mm, respectively

Element sizeup to 3365 x 1320 mm

Pitched roof: max 20 grader

Openings taken within the element

Guest house including bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and dining area

Constructed as an accessory building without accessibility requirements.

The small house is based on the BiteLock system as well as the repetition of the same types of CLT elements, making the building both scalable and flexible. This not only simplifies production but also allows for expansion. The house can be made larger simply by adding elements in width or length.

To optimize design and production, only two element widths have been used, further contributing to a smooth and efficient building process.

The roof consists of a flat roof with a simple overhang. The façade is made of vertical, straight-folded panels in different widths. Exterior timber is treated with iron vitriol or equivalent impregnation and will naturally gray over time.

The exterior shell is maintenance-free and adaptable over time. The natural appearance of the roof and façade allows the building to blend easily into the surrounding environment. The simple window arrangement creates a calm and harmonious expression without becoming monotonous.

To further highlight the structure and BiteLock system, interior walls and ceilings are made of exposed CLT.

The loft staircase and perforated wall block serve as a centerpiece within the house, with the milled-out details further demonstrating the possibilities of factory processing. The house includes a kitchen, WC/shower, living area, and a loft with potential sleeping space.
